Perspective Check - Are You Observing or Creating the "Bad"
Wars, disasters, violence, and suffering - are you perhaps contributing to their presence in the world with your mental focus?
What if you’re not observing and commenting on the objective world - you’re creating it?
If this reality is a simulation or if minds rule over matter, is it not possible that you are behind everything in the end?
Let’s play with the idea of mind over matter and take it one step further. Your mind doesn’t just create “your” life experience, but everything you observe and interact with.
Since there is a non-zero chance that everything you perceive as outside reality is nothing more than a mind-made illusion, does that not beg the question regarding things you deem out of your purview, like wars, for example?
Is it possible that what you believe is beneficial behaviour, like shining the light on atrocities and talking about it, is, in fact, detrimental, as your focus is like adding fuel to the fire, metaphysically speaking?
Is it possible that you’re doing it?
I’m not saying that you are creating wars and other things we’ll mention as examples, but I will ask that you think about the possibility that you are:
Contributing to the whole of reality with your current thoughts, fears, and beliefs, which then translates into collective manifestation, literal or figurative.
Jumping between possible parallel universes, or quantum states, but on a large scale. In this case, you’re not creating or causing anything; you are merely jumping from one reality into another depending on the content of your mind.
Disregarding metaphysics, if you are spreading fear through fear-mongering, more people become afraid. Their beliefs are now tuned toward negative outcomes, and their actions will stem from those beliefs.
I know these are abstract and hard-to-grasp concepts. Read the ideas of Quantum Jumping and reality being a dream world, to start you off.
3 examples of “I had nothing to do with it”
Let’s talk about three examples that seem out of our control entirely, and we’re not happy about, therefore, we would automatically dismiss any responsibility in creating them.
War.
Natural disasters.
Political outcomes.
Let’s repeat the basics of mind-over-matter principles:
As within, so without. What you focus on grows in your reality. Positive or negative.
Nothing outside you is as real and material as you perceive it, or your mind couldn’t affect it in the slightest, yet it does.
What you believe to be true becomes true because you believe it. There is no objective truth, only opinions and perspectives, and they become your experienced truth as a self-reaffirming principle.
Long story short - what you focus on, think about, and believe - you experience as your reality. Notice that I didn’t say “want, desire, create.” That’s because, as far as I can tell, the universe works like a mirror.
Whatever your mind contains is then reflected back at you. The good and the bad. The desires and the fears. Truths and lies. All of it. Whatever you believe to be true will be true for you.
No one wants war or natural disasters, yet they happen all the time
“No one” might be a lie, as there are definitely instigators who profit from war, or misogynistic eco activists who would like to see humanity disappear from the planet, for example, but 99% of people touched by war or disaster aren’t wishing and hoping for it.
But that doesn’t mean they are innocent in the metaphysical sense.
They don’t have to want war. If they are afraid of it, think and talk about it, believe it’s inevitable, intensely resist it, etc., they are fueling the monster of war with their attention and energy, which must then manifest in their reality.
You either make everything happen or nothing
You can’t be selective. It either always works for everything, or it never works for anything, and it has nothing to do with want, only with the content of your (mostly subconscious) mind. It’s an objective law or operating principle that doesn’t judge or pick favorites.
This is similar to the dishonest discussion in religion. If God is all, knows all, makes everything happen, and is all-powerful, then everything that exists and happens is done by him, for him, and through him, and it can be no other way. Otherwise, he’s not the absolute god of scripture. That includes all the worst evils in existence!
Are you at fault?
So, let’s examine how you could be contributing to the odds of a war breaking out.
You are probably NOT CONTRIBUTING to a disaster or war if you:
Never ever think about disasters, accidents, wars, suffering, enemies, politics, hate, violence, etc. - those simply do not enter your thoughts.
Never watch, listen to, read, or talk about any of the above, including the news.
Deep down, believe they are impossible, never happen, can’t happen, won’t happen.
Never worry about death, destruction, war, disasters, suffering, pain, etc.
Are never ever scared, sad, distrusting, depressed, angry, resentful, or judgmental.
Believe in the good of the people, the planet, the universe, and see life, existence, or god as perfect, loving, kind, and benevolent toward all.
Envision only prosperity, safety, love, beauty, kindness, and perfection in everything and everyone.
Always feel absolutely at peace, calm, safe, secure, loved, accepted, at ease, tranquil, harmonious, optimistic, hopeful, grateful, appreciative, and perfect.
Live fully in the now moment, never lamenting the past or looking at the future.
Rest easy, dear friend. If you checked all the boxes above, you are in no way, shape, or form contributing to suffering, pain, wars, violence, or disasters in our reality.
Good for you. I’ve never met such a person, but I’m sure they exist, rarer than unicorns though they may be.
The rest of us imperfect humans, with the all-mighty power of (co)creation in this reality, everything being a literal mirror image of our minds, emotions, and beliefs, on an individual and collective level, would appear to be at least a small part of the problem. Want has nothing to do with it.
As within, so without means that even the things, or especially the things we fear, fight against, rebel, push back, and resist (because of intense emotional power), must become part of our experienced reality.
Not because we want it to be, but because it is contained within us. Since we are all there is (like a dreamer of a dream), it then must be contained in our reality.
When I tell you: don’t envision a pink elephant, you can’t help but see a pink elephant in your mind. The universe is the same. If it's in your mind, it has to be present in your reality, to a varying degree.
Not-so-fun fact: you don’t even have to be aware of it
It can be buried somewhere deep in your subconscious mind, and still wreak havoc on your reality.
If you’re wondering what all is hiding in your subconscious mind, simply look at the reality you live in, and everything in your life. As within, so without goes both ways.
Even just one emotionally charged event, movie, talk, or memory can leave a lasting footprint, influencing the whole of reality for the rest of your life. That’s how trauma works, and that’s why the early childhood experiences, even when completely misunderstood, mess with us well into old age.
Unless we identify them and rewrite them, that is.
What now?
Well, now you know. Perhaps it would be wise to be a bit more picky with the content we consume, fears we foster, and thoughts we entertain, as they are not just innocent observations but building blocks of reality.
The sad truth is that the things we fear most have the biggest impact on our emotions and imagination; therefore, they must be made manifest in our reality.
The more you think and feel about the things you fear and most definitely don’t want to experience, the more you are infusing your reality with those same things.
They say: Be careful what you wish for. I think that being careful about what you fear is far more important.
A simple guide would be to follow your emotional state
Strive to feel peaceful, relaxed, care-free, safe, optimistic, loving, grateful, and, well, feel good about yourself, the world, other people, and your body.
Our minds will always contain a bit of both, good and evil, beneficial and harmful, sadness and happiness. Consequently, so will our reality.
Not every thought or belief manifests heavily in your reality, but just try to tip the scales of “good content” in your favor by deliberately focusing on the light instead of the darkness.
Imagine a paint bucket where the mixture is being made - one that will then be used to paint over your reality. Color the universe a bit more bright than it is dark, if you can. It could make all the difference.
What if it’s not true?
But what if this is all nonsense, and what I think, believe, or feel has no power over my reality?
Then, good news, you’re off the hook! Joking aside, let me ask you this:
How does being afraid, sad, and thinking about things like war, disasters, pain, and suffering MAKE YOU FEEL?
Doesn’t it feel better when you’re NOT afraid or sad?
Wouldn’t you rather feel good, even if it had zero impact on reality?
Does your being afraid or sad make any difference to what will happen in the future, if your mind can’t influence anything at all?
Can you stop a natural disaster, war, or human suffering in general - is that something that is in your power?
In short, what have you got to lose if you choose to feel good, be happy, and focus on the good in this world, instead of being consumed by the bad, no matter the circumstances you happen to find yourself in?
There is plenty of good, I assure you. You just have to look for it, and your life will improve immensely, even if there are no metaphysics involved.
Happiness is an inside job - it’s a choice, and you’re the only one who has the power to “make” yourself happy or miserable, regardless of the outside situations of your life.
How do you choose to feel?
Even if all these metaphysical ideas are false, and it’s all just randomness at play, we always control one thing - our minds and with them, our emotions.
I choose to be happy, as much as possible, but I wouldn’t dream of forcing such bliss upon you, should you choose suffering and misery instead. I know many who do, and that’s fine.
They feel right and vindicated when their negativity and fears manifest in their lives (“see, I was right, pat on the back”), and I feel good and vindicated when the opposite manifests in my life.
All I ask is that you stay far away from me, because that shit is contagious.
